Sikkim is a picturesque northeastern state of India nestled in the eastern Himalayas. Bordered by Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet (China), and West Bengal, it is India's second-smallest state by area and its least populous. The state capital and largest city is Gangtok. Sikkim is home to Kangchenjunga (8,586 m), the world's third-highest peak and India's highest mountain. The landscape features alpine meadows, deep valleys, high-altitude glacial lakes (such as Tsomgo Lake and Gurudongmar Lake), and the Teesta River. Over a third of the state is covered by Khangchendzonga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region boasts rare wildlife like the red panda, snow leopard, and blue sheep, along with diverse rhododendron and orchid species.
